Description

A hot mix plant, also known as an asphalt plant, is a facility that produces hot mix asphalt (HMA) used for paving roads, highways, and parking lots.

Its primary function is to precisely combine aggregates (crushed stone, sand, and gravel) with a binder, which is liquid bitumen (asphalt cement). These materials are heated to high temperatures (typically 150-180°C or 300-350°F) to remove moisture and ensure the bitumen properly coats all the aggregates.

This hot mixture is then loaded onto trucks and transported to the construction site, where it is laid down and compacted before it cools to form a durable, flexible, and weather-resistant pavement surface.
